Earlier nominations for Tuesday events would greatly help the organisers.
A washout on Thursday was followed by a fine day on rain slowed but excellent greens on Saturday for the Nominated pairs. Peter Collins and Darren Redeckis with two wins for a 23 shot winning aggregate handled the conditions best and Alan Briot and Chris Richardson tied with David Hyde and John Bridge for second place with two wins and plus 11.
The plate prize went to Win Jones and Noel Reynold with an aggregate plus 4.
Dont miss out on the curry night 27/8. Names on the board asap please and Gourmet gifts for the raffle.

Week Ending 22/08/10

A few clouds last week did nothing to deter our bowlers and all three days attracted good attendances.
Tuesdays boys and girls get together saw Celia Bakker,Ivor Davies, Glenys Moulton and Frank Prendergast walk away with the best of the new gourmet meat packs with a plus 25 victory while most of the rest of us
watched drooling. Bill Ridge-Richard Jay-Rosemary Barr and Graham Pennefather, and Jim Robinson-Joan Robins-Anne Clements and Brian Woods had second and third choices respectively.
Thursdays triples provided closer competition with Alan Pitman-Alan Davison and Bob Dunstan best with + 14 from John O’Meehan Ron Day and Mal Douglas at + 11.
On Saturday in the Pairs comp George Klug and John McCormack tied with David Steinberg and Mike Zusman, 2 wins for +22 with John Pole and Darren Redeckis 3rd. Andy McGlew and Geoff Sansom won the Plate.

Week Ending 29/08/10

A word about our men’s bowls September/October program. Saturday 4th Sept. will be the last of the Nominated pairs program the rest of September’s Saturdays will be fours competitions. Thursdays will remain as triples until October when both Thursdays and Saturdays will be Pennant trials/practice. Our greens will be closed Oct 2/3 for the Spring fours.
Results for last week were as follows.
In Tuesdays mixed Jan Steinberg, Frank Prendergast and Nita Press were best with +20 from Celia Bakker, Bill Smith, Evie Morgan and Marie Monks on + 12 With Gwenda McIntosh Ivor Davies Rosemary Norris and Brian Jackson third.
Thursdays was a very tight competition only one shot separating the first three teams with John McIntosh, Noel Reynolds and Duncan McMurtrie tied with Alton Jackson, Ian Broadfoot and Win Jones on +11 with Peter Collins, Pel Burges and R Mclennan on +10.
The nominated pairs again provided a tie for first decided on ends won in favour of John O’meehan and Darren Redeckis from Don Hicks and Tony Quinlan on +29. with Alan Pitman and Alton Jackson on + 17 third. The plate was won by Win Jones and Duncan McMurtrie who had the good fortune to lose their first game on a count back then annihilating their second opponents 20 to nil.

Doubt about the weather on Tuesday last week reduced attendance for the mixed competition. This resulted for the first time in the ladies outnumbering the men proving, they assert, but only in jest that they are the stronger sex. Alan Briot, Margaret Wells and David Ironside playing triples were best on the day with + 20.
Thursday’s triples resulted in a win for Peter Collins, Ron Day and Andy McGlew with Bob Dunstan, Bill Robertson and Peter Wiesner runners up.
Saturday’s nominated pairs again provided close competition with David Wood and Peter Jeanes pipping John Bridge and Pat Boyle by just two shots. Peter Collins and Brian Burton were third. Andy Anderson and Kent Warburton walked off with the plate after a net +18 from their two games.

Week Ending 08/08/10

Again fine weather blessed us through last week and a strong field on Tuesday in the mixed fours saw Pauline House, Lindsay Tilly, Colin Gilbert and Nita Press trounce their opposition with a 34 shot win by far the best on the day. In Thursdays triples John Gadsden, Kingsley Newman and Pat Boyle with 16 up were best by just one shot from Alan Briot, Pel Burges and David Ironside with Peter Collins, Andy McGlew and John Edwards third on 12 up.
Results for Saturday’s nominated pairs competition failed to reach the writer in time for inclusion and will miss being POSTed in this edition of our great newspaper. Best in the bankers competition were Armanagh Nassibian and Max Wilson on +5.

The weather was fairly kind last week allowing a full program and good attendances with the new Saturday programme for nominated pairs providing interesting competition.
On Tuesday in the mixed fours Bill Ridge, Carolyn Anderson Arthur Jenkins and BerylBarblett were best with Plus six.
Brian Burton, Tony Quinlan and David Ironside had a good win in Thursday’s 3 bowl triples at 9 up and on Saturday Peter Norris and Pat Thunder won the Bankers game with a six shot margin.
The Nominated Pairs on Saturday provided a bit of refreshment money for John O’Meehan and George Klug who had a huge 23 shot margin with Les Mathews and Peter Jeanes pressing them for top spot with plus 20. John McIntosh and Tony Quinlan won the plate with plus 8.

Week ending 25/07/10

Another fine week encouraged fine bowling and those enjoying it most in the mixed competition on Tuesday were Barry Harper, Maureen Davison and Ian Shellabear who finished 20 shots in front.
Thursdays triples saw Les Mathews, Ron Day and Lindsay Richardson in top form with 19 up for a comfortable best on the day from new bowler Joel Steinberg and David Ironside playing 2-4-2 at plus 13
Good start Joel.
The nominated pairs on Saturday again provided tight competition with Alan Pitman and Jim Neulist at + 13 edging out Don Hicks and Ken Brooke by one shot with David Hyde and Brian Conway third at + 6.
John and David Gadsden were best in the Plate with + 2. The bankers, somewhat short of numbers were reduced to playing pairs and Graham Pennefather and Don Zimmerman took the honours.
We need more players to join the bankers on Saturday afternoon for the very enjoyable social atmosphere this competition provides. If the somewhat more strenuous Nominated Pairs competition doesn’t appeal
just nominate Bankers when you call between 12 and 12.30.

At a recent pairs event at the Osborne Park Bowling Club Dalkeith representative Noel Reynolds produced what could be described as the ‘Shot of the Century’ by drawing a resting toucher to win the game on the last end.

With Noel & his partner leading by 2 shots going into the last end, his opponents were holding 3 (seemingly) unbeatable shots - see attached diagram. Noel produced his match winner by resting on the jack, moving it only a centimetre or so closer to the ditch, breaking the hearts of our opposition.

Please be advised that this is an eye witness account of the shot when Noel is conveying the story to you all over a drink!

The Annual General Meeting on the 21st May 2010 created history for our Club.

The Special Resolution to create a New Constitution was passed without opposition, this Constitution enables Men’s and Ladies Clubs to combine and operate as one legal entity. We now have a period of time whilst we await the new Constitutions approval by three organisations:
- Department of Commerce (Fair Trading)
- Liquor Licensing
- Bowls WA

Once the approvals have been received the following will happen:

A Special General Meeting will be called under the new Constitution to elect a new Executive and Committee.

The Executive and Committee appointed at the recent Annual General Meeting, retire immediately prior to the Special General Meeting.

New Nominations for the Executive and Committee will be sought prior to the Special General Meeting in accordance with the new Constitution.

The New Executive and Committee will be elected at the Special General Meeting.

To get this far has involved a lot of work by a number of Members of both the Men’s and Ladies Clubs. I thank them most sincerely for the effort that they have put in to bring this to fruition.

David Hyde
NEW CONSTITUTION:
At the meeting a Special Resolution was passed to adopt the new Club Constitution. This new Constitution facilitates the combining of the Men’s and Ladies Club to operate as one legal entity.
Over the next few months the Constitution will be reviewed for approval by various Government Authorities and Bowls WA.
Once this Approval Process is completed another special meeting will be called and the Committee as above will resign and a new Committee of the Combined Club will be elected.
This is a big step for the Club and we will keep you posted on progress. (Check the website)

DEVELOPMENT FUND:
Our Patron moved and it was endorsed, that the Club establish a Capital Development Fund
for future capital works and to get this established he kindly agreed to contribute $3000 once the Fund has been established. This is now underway.
