Week Ending 15/08/10

Only one shot separated the first and second teams in Tuesdays mixed fours with David Wood, Estelle Boak, Don Zimmerman and Dorothy Stratton at 16 up taking the honours from Andy Anderson, Maureen Davison, Ric Mapley, and Lindsay Tilly.
Earlier nominations for Tuesday events would greatly help the organisers.
A washout on Thursday was followed by a fine day on rain slowed but excellent greens on Saturday for the Nominated pairs. Peter Collins and Darren Redeckis with two wins for a 23 shot winning aggregate handled the conditions best and Alan Briot and Chris Richardson tied with David Hyde and John Bridge for second place with two wins and plus 11.
The plate prize went to Win Jones and Noel Reynold with an aggregate plus 4.
Dont miss out on the curry night 27/8. Names on the board asap please and Gourmet gifts for the raffle. 

Week Ending 22/08/10

A few clouds last week did nothing to deter our bowlers and all three days attracted good attendances.
Tuesdays boys and girls get together saw Celia Bakker,Ivor Davies, Glenys Moulton and Frank Prendergast walk away with the best of the new gourmet meat packs with a plus 25 victory while most of the rest of us
watched drooling. Bill Ridge-Richard Jay-Rosemary Barr and Graham Pennefather, and Jim Robinson-Joan Robins-Anne Clements and Brian Woods had second and third choices respectively.
Thursdays triples provided closer competition with Alan Pitman-Alan Davison and Bob Dunstan best with + 14 from John O’Meehan Ron Day and Mal Douglas at + 11.
On Saturday in the Pairs comp George Klug and John McCormack tied with David Steinberg and Mike Zusman, 2 wins for +22 with John Pole and Darren Redeckis 3rd. Andy McGlew and Geoff Sansom won the Plate. 

Week Ending 29/08/10

A word about our men’s bowls September/October program.  Saturday 4th Sept. will be the last of the Nominated pairs program the rest of September’s Saturdays will be fours competitions. Thursdays will remain as triples until October when both Thursdays and Saturdays will be Pennant trials/practice. Our greens will be closed Oct 2/3 for the Spring fours.
Results for last week were as follows.
In Tuesdays mixed Jan Steinberg, Frank Prendergast and Nita Press were best with +20 from Celia Bakker, Bill Smith, Evie Morgan and Marie Monks on + 12 With Gwenda McIntosh Ivor Davies Rosemary Norris and Brian Jackson third.
Thursdays was a very tight competition only one shot separating the first three teams with John  McIntosh, Noel Reynolds and Duncan McMurtrie tied with Alton Jackson, Ian Broadfoot and Win Jones on +11 with Peter Collins, Pel Burges and R Mclennan on +10.
The nominated pairs again provided a tie for first decided on ends won in favour of John O’meehan and Darren Redeckis from Don Hicks and Tony Quinlan on +29. with Alan Pitman and Alton Jackson on + 17 third. The plate was won by Win Jones and Duncan McMurtrie who had the good fortune to lose their first game on a count back then annihilating their second opponents 20 to nil.
