Doubt about the weather on Tuesday last week reduced attendance for the mixed competition. This resulted for the first time in the ladies outnumbering the men proving, they assert, but only in jest that they are the stronger sex. Alan Briot, Margaret Wells and David Ironside playing triples were best on the day with + 20.
Thursday’s triples resulted in a win for Peter Collins, Ron Day and Andy McGlew with Bob Dunstan, Bill Robertson and Peter Wiesner runners up.
Saturday’s nominated pairs again provided close competition with David Wood and Peter Jeanes pipping John Bridge and Pat Boyle by just two shots. Peter Collins and Brian Burton were third. Andy Anderson and Kent Warburton walked off with the plate after a net +18 from their two games.

Again fine weather blessed us through last week and a strong field on Tuesday in the mixed fours saw Pauline House, Lindsay Tilly, Colin Gilbert and Nita Press trounce their opposition with a 34 shot win by far the best on the day. In Thursdays triples John Gadsden, Kingsley Newman and Pat Boyle with 16 up were best by just one shot from Alan Briot, Pel Burges and David Ironside with Peter Collins, Andy McGlew and John Edwards third on 12 up.
Results for Saturday’s nominated pairs competition failed to reach the writer in time for inclusion and will miss being POSTed in this edition of our great newspaper. Best in the bankers competition were Armanagh Nassibian and Max Wilson on +5.
